Angela McNerney

Founder of Tech Valley Connect

 

 

Angela McNerney serves as Principal Consultant at Connect Model Consulting, LLC.  McNerney most recently transitioned operations of Tech Valley Connect (now Talent Connect) to the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) – the leading economic development corporation in the Capital Region of New York State.  During the transition, she was hired as a consultant to the Center of Economic Growth and continues to offer consulting services around the country. McNerney founded and held the position of President and CEO of Tech Valley Connect for 6 1/2 years.  In 2008-09, she developed the Tech Valley Connect program from its inception as a pilot program under a National Science Foundation ADVANCE grant and the Elsevier Foundation’s New Scholar Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 2010, she transitioned the program into an independent not-for-profit serving over 65 regional employers. McNerney managed both the development, implementation and transition of the local program.  She provided strategy, created new programming and coordinated logistics among clients, companies and regional resources.

McNerney oversaw business development, marketing  and overall management of the company. Her ability reached beyond the structure of running Tech Valley Connect to keeping the program fresh and innovative. McNerney was invited to speak at the National Dual Career conference in 2010, then again in 2012 and a Dual Career Symposium at the University of Texas-Pan Am in 2014 to further disseminate the Tech Valley Connect model. She as served as a consultant at the University of California, Davis and the University of Maine, Orono assisting those regions in adapting the Tech Valley Connect regional collaborative model.  She continues to speak at conferences; most recently in May 2017 at CUWFA annual conference in Providence, RI. 

McNerney has a BA in Public Communications from The College of St. Rose and is certified in Cross Cultural Competence from the Interchange Institute, Boston, MA. Her background includes Public Relations and freelance writing. She has taught as an Adjunct Professor and served as Director of the Advance NSF grant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
